All schools participating in the Discovery Series are eligible for reimbursement of transportation (busing) costs. Please make sure you read all the policies completely.
Discovery Series Transportation Policies
Schools are responsible for securing their own transportation to the performance. The Hobby Center DOES NOT arrange for transportation between the school and the theater.
Buses should arrive no earlier than 45 minutes prior to their scheduled performance start time.
Upon arrival the Hobby Center, please follow the directions of the uniformed HPD/HCSD officers. For the safety of the students, these officers will be responsible for directing all loading and unloading of students. Under no circumstances should a bus driver pull onto the Hobby Center property and park themselves without the direction of the officers.
We will make every effort to keep your bus and driver on campus during the performance. However, bus parking on the Hobby Center property IS NOT guaranteed.
Once your field trip is completed, you must submit a letter or invoice requesting reimbursement for your transportation costs.
Requests must be submitted in writing within 60 days of the performance date. Any request submitted after 60 days is subject to approval from the Hobby Center Director of Finance.
HISD Schools – The HISD Fine Arts department has created a billing code with the HISD Transportation department. Using this code, Transportation will bill the Fine Arts department directly and they in turn will request the reimbursement. If you do not use the Fine Arts transportation code, you will be responsible for requesting your own transportation reimbursement directly from the Hobby Center.
